Pep Guardiola agrees fresh Man City contract
Pep Guardiola agrees fresh Man City contract. Pep Guardiola is understood to have agreed a new contract terms to continue as Manchester City head coach.
The Spaniard is approaching the final six months of his current deal with the reigning league champions and had earlier been tipped to depart at the end of the season, particularly with long-time friend Txiki Begiristain stepping down from his role as sporting director.
However, according to The Athletic, Guardiola’s future with City has been secured with a new one-year deal.
The new deal is also believed to include the option for an additional 12 months which, if fulfilled, would take Guardiola to a decade of service at the club.
It was during the October international break that Guardiola first gave any significant indication that he could extend his contract, admitting his passion for his current role was still as strong as ever during an interview on Italian television.
One month later and Guardiola is believed to have shaken hands on fresh terms which could keep him at City until 2026. A recent report claimed he could depart the Etihad Stadium that year in favour of linking up with Ronaldo Nazario as the Brazil national team manager.
