Mohamed Salah reacts after breaking Premier League goal record
Mohamed Salah reacts after breaking Premier League goal record. Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has admitted his pride at becoming the first player in Premier League history to reach double figures for both goals and assists before Christmas.
The Egyptian scored two and also provided two assists in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, taking his tally for the season to 15 goals and 11 assists in just 16 games.
It is a feat which has never before been recorded in England’s top flight, and while Salah admitted it was never a goal of his to become the first, it is another record in which he can take real pride.
“I didn’t think about it before the game, but I’m glad I have done it,” Salah said.
“It is something that makes me proud, I’ll keep working hard.”
The milestones keep on coming for Salah, who moved up to fourth on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers charts.
With 229 goals to his name, Salah climbed above Billy Liddell’s 228 and will now have his sights set on moving up to third – a position currently held by Gordon Hodgson’s 241 goals.
“It is great to achieve that at such a big club but the most important thing is that we won the game,” Salah beamed.
“Wherever I am going to end my career, I am happy about it.”
