Liverpool to rival Barcelona & Man City for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich
Liverpool to rival Barcelona & Man City for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. Liverpool are reported to have added Bayern Munich star midfielder Joshua Kimmich to their list of summer transfer targets.
Kimmich has now approached the final six months of his contract and is free to talk with clubs overseas, with both Barcelona and Manchester City regularly named as interested parties.
However, SportBild state that Liverpool have now joined the race for Kimmich’s signature. Recall that Arne Slot did requested for a new defensive midfielder during the summer and was linked with the Bayern maestro back then, only to put his faith in Ryan Gravenberch instead.
Gravenberch has flourished with more minutes but there is a recognition that Liverpool still need a new midfield signing, particularly if Wataru Endo departs in the coming months.
During the summer, Kimmich was said to have drawn up a list of five potential landing spots, with Liverpool featuring alongside Arsenal, Man City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Bayern have not given up hope of retaining Kimmich, with club officials publicly urging the 29-year-old to etch his name in the club’s history books by extending his stay at the Allianz Arena, but he is yet to make a decision on his future.
Recall that Kimmich confirmed in early December that he wanted an early resolution to his future, vowing not to wait until the summer to sign his next deal.
