Liverpool make opening Mohamed Salah contract offer
Liverpool make opening Mohamed Salah contract offer. Liverpool are reportedly said to have presented Mohamed Salah with their first offer for a contract extension.
The prolific forward is currently on a deal which expires in June 2025, sparking lots of speculation over his future throughout the current campaign. Salah has stoked the flames of this raging drama by delivering a series of public comments suggesting that this will be his last season on Merseyside.
However, Paris Saint-Germain have distanced themselves from a potential move for the soon-to-be free agent, but there are a host of clubs that are willing to sign Salah this summer.
The 32-year-old, by all accounts, is keen on staying at Liverpool and would reportedly be willing to accept a one-year extension on his existing wages. While Salah has done plenty of talking, the club have reportedly engaged in radio silence with their own player.
Now, with barely three weeks until 1 January 2025, when Salah can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club, Liverpool have finally tabled an opening offer, according to The Athletic.
There is no detail regarding the salary or duration of Liverpool’s offer to Salah and the report stressed that this development doesn’t necessarily mean that a conclusion to the long-running saga “is in place or close”.
Interestingly, news of these talks between the player and club came on the same day that another report claimed Salah was “on the brink” of signing a new deal.
