Leny Yoro returns to full Man Utd training
Leny Yoro returns to full Man Utd training. Ruben Amorim‘s first training session as Manchester United head coach was boosted by the return of centre-back Leny Yoro to the full group training.
United beat off the likes of Real Madrid to Yoro’s signature during the summer with a initial deal worth £52m, but could only watch on as he suffered a foot injury in pre-season which has sidelined him ever since.
The 19-year-old, ultimately missed the Erik ten Hag era at Old Trafford, but appears set to play a significant role under new head coach Amorim, after being spotted in full training, having previously been building his fitness with lighter work and partial involvement, for the new boss’ first session.
Yoro was part of a back three which included both Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans, signs of an expected shift in formation, although fresh injury concerns have again hit the centre-back unit.
Victor Lindelof limped off on Sweden duty at the weekend, just days after fellow centre-back Lisandro Martinez withdrew from the Argentina squad. Harry Maguire is also not fully fit, leaving Amorim with limited options at centre-back.
Yoro is unlikely to be thrown directly into competitive action after the international break, with some reports suggesting he could turn out for the Under-21s to help ease him back, with minutes for United’s senior side not expected to arrive until December.
