Klopp accepts new position for Redbull. Red Bull has today announced Former Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp as it’s new head of global soccer, effective from January 1 2025, on what would be his first major job since departing Liverpool at the end of last season.
The German brought an end to a nine-year stint at Anfield at the end of 2023/24, having led the club to Champions League and Premier League titles, alongside a number of other trophies.
Despite being linked with plenty of positions after leaving the Reds, including the England, Germany and USA international management positions, Klopp insisted he wanted time away from coaching after his lengthy stint on Merseyside.
His new position at Red Bull has now been confirmed and will see the 57-year-old preside over the company’s network of clubs which includes RB Leipzig, Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.
Taking up the new role, Klopp said:
“After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this. The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.
“By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal. There are many ways that we can do this from using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries.
“Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking. As I said, this could not excite me more.”
Klopp will start his new role officially in January, and it has also been reported he has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave for the Germany national team job, as a potential successor to Julian Nagelsmann in the future.
