Kai Havertz aims fresh dig at Chelsea
Kai Havertz aims fresh dig at Chelsea. Kai Havertz has attracted the fury of Chelsea fans once again by admitting his move to Arsenal was “the best thing he could have done”.
After three years at Chelsea which yielded 32 goals in 139 games, including the winner in the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz was sold to Arsenal, where he has established himself as a key part of Mikel Arteta’s title-chasers over the past 18 months.
Havertz’s relationship with Chelsea was broken completely earlier this year when he celebrated scoring in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over the Blues in April, before he admitted winning the Champions League “would mean more” with his current side.
The German then went on to shush Chelsea’s fans when he celebrated a goal which was ultimately ruled out for offside in November, and he has once again drawn the ire of his former supporters.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his move from Chelsea to Arsenal, the German said:
“It’s the best thing I could have done.
“I’m so glad for everyone who has helped me during my time [at Arsenal]. We’ve just got started, I hope I’ll continue with good form, play well, win titles and help the team to win something.”
Since moving to Arsenal, Havertz has racked up 23 goals and eight assists in 71 games, proving a key focal point for the Gunners’ attack.
Chelsea have not missed the German too much, however. Nicolas Jackson, who replaced Havertz as their starting striker, has found the back of the net 25 times in 58 games to date, ably supported by understudy Christopher Nkunku, who has 12 goals across all competitions in 2024/25.
