Jonny Evans speaks on Man United’s struggles
Jonny Evans speaks on Man United’s struggles. Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans has admitted the squad have found it difficult to manage the uncertainty surrounding manager Erik ten Hag.
Evans, now 36, was the man of the match, as United battled to a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, helping to ease the pressure on Ten Hag, despite the Dutchman now overseeing United’s worst start to a season in Premier League history.
Club officials met on Tuesday in a regular scheduled meeting, where Ten Hag’s future is likely to have been one of many topics of discussion.
Asked whether the continued speculation has been a problem for the United players, Evans said:
“It does affect the players. It’s on our minds too.
“I think the more experience I’ve got in my career I’ve made sure I do everything to be ready and give everything I can to the team.
That was the important thing to show the spirit in the team. Everyone competed as much as they could. That’s a pleasing thing to see.”
Evans’ centre-back partner Harry Maguire had earlier stressed that the players are still solidly behind Ten Hag, while the Dutchman is still expecting to remain in charge of United after the October internationals.
