Jonathan David reveals dream transfer destination
Jonathan David reveals dream transfer destination. Lille striker Jonathan David has admitted his dream and desire of playing for Barcelona someday, as he approaches the final six months of his contract in France.
David, 24, has long been linked with a blockbuster transfer but finally appears set to move clubs next summer when his deal with Lille comes to an end. Most of Europe’s elite teams have been linked with the Canada international, with that interest only growing as he hits the free agent market.
A number of Premier League sides have looked at David, who has admitted his interest in moving to England in the past, but it is Barcelona who hold a special place in his heart.
“[Barcelona] was always the team I grew up supporting,” he told The Athletic.
“When you grow up supporting a team, it’s your dream to play for them.”
Barcelona were linked with David earlier this summer, earmarking the prolific forward as a potential bargain during their search for cover for Robert Lewandowski who, while still scoring at a ludicrous rate, turned 36 in August and is clearly in the twilight of his career.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with with a move for David recently, while Florian Plettenberg revealed Bayern Munich’s interest in reuniting him with international teammate Alphonso Davies.
David joined Lille in the summer of 2020 and has struck 97 goals in 202 games for the club, regularly finishing towards the top of Ligue 1’s scoring charts and even helping them lift the league title in 2020/21.
