‘I should’ve had six’ – Cole Palmer reacts to incredible record-breaking Brighton win. Cole Palmer netted four times past Brighton & Hove Albion in Chelsea’s 4-2 win on Saturday, and the England international believes he should’ve added more to his tally.
The Blues orchestrated an emphatic victory over the seagulls, with all four goals attributed to Palmer. The 22-year-old ran the show on the south coast, becoming the first ever player to score four goals in a first half, in Premier League history.
However, it appeared the four were not enough for the midfielder, who believes he should have put five or six past Brighton.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Palmer said;
“I should have had five or six.
“When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we’d get more chances.
“The manager set up a good game plan, we knew how to attack them with first-time passes in behind.
“Brighton are a good team, pass the ball well. They play similar to us. Three points is what we needed and that is what we got.
“I try and play every game the best I can.”
He also responded to comments from Theo Walcott likening him to Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp, although admitting he was too young to see the player in action.
“I know he is a legend in the Premier League but I didn’t really watch him, I was too young. I have seen clips, he was a top player.”
Chelsea will return to action on Thursday when they face Gent in the Conference League, ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
