FIFA The Best Men’s Player 2024 Nominees
FIFA The Best Men’s Player 2024 Nominees. FIFA have released their final 11-player shortlist for the 2024 Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
With performance based on a period of August 23, 2023 to August 10, 2024, the 11 players have been selected by a panel and the eventual winner will be decided through votes from fans, experts, national team coaches, captains and journalists.
Last year’s winner, Lionel Messi, is up for the award again this year after leading Argentina to Copa America glory on the international stage. Now playing his club football for Inter Miami, Messi also lifted the 2023 Leagues Cup and 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
Messi is the only nominee playing his club football outside of Europe, with most of the shortlisted players representing the same club, Real Madrid.
The reigning La Liga and Champions League holders can throw their support behind Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde, while former Blancos midfielder Toni Kroos, would also be hoping to get his hands on the prize, despite retiring this summer.
Elsewhere, Manchester City have two of their players named on the list. Ballon d’Or winner Rodri will be among the favourites to pick up the prize, while the prolific Erling Haaland would also be aiming for the individual accolade.
Barcelona sensational Lamine Yamal also gets a nod after inspiring Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph and picking up the Kopa Trophy during October’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, while another wonderkid, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, is also in the running.
