Five of the most standout and successful coaches in the game have been shortlisted ahead of 2024’s The Best Awards ceremony, celebrating the greatest talents in world football. The eventual winner will be chosen by a panel consisting of the current coaches and captains of all men’s national teams, one specialist journalist from each territory and fans from all over the world.
Manchester City‘s Pep Guardiola has made the shortlist again, after picking up the award last term. The Catalan boss delivered a fourth successive title with the Premier League outfit in 2024, becoming the first team in English top-flight history to achieve such feat.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also made the shortlist after a remarkable season with Los Blancos, winning both the La Liga and the Champions League. Several of Ancelotti’s squad also made the shortlist for the player category of this award, rewarding their sublime individual performances.
Highly decorated Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is up for the prize, thanks to a number of successes. He lifted the 2023/24 Bundesliga title with Leverkusen after leading them to a 51-match unbeaten run in all competitions. Alonso also triumphed in the domestic cup, but fell in the final of the Europa League.
On the international stage, Luis de la Fuente is celebrated after winning Euro 2024 with Spain, while Argentina’s Lionel Scaloni is named for his success at Copa America.
