Bruno Fernandes marks huge Premier League milestone
Bruno Fernandes marks huge Premier League milestone. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes marked an impressive milestone during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils cruised to a another comfortable victory over the newly-promoted Leicester, extending Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s unbeaten record to four games since the United legend took over as interim manager from Erik ten Hag in October.
However, the interim boss will make way for the new head coach Ruben Amorim on Monday, handing the Portuguese coach the keys to the squad in time for United’s next Premier League clash with Ipswich Town on 24 November.
United captain Fernandes has enjoyed an exceptional brief spell under Van Nistelrooy, netting four goals in four games under the Dutch boss.
His efforts in Sunday’s victory over the Foxes did not go unnoticed either, separating the two sides in the 17th minute to kick off United’s eventual Premier League win. His strike also marked his 100th direct goal contribution in 170 league appearances for the Red Devils.
Fernandes needed just one more appearance than Red Devils legend Cristiano Ronaldo to achieve this feat, recording his 100th involvement in 169 games.
Amorim will arrive at Old Trafford with United in 13th place in the Premier League table. Their recent run of form will be welcome news to the arriving coach, who also delivered a sensational 4-1 win over new local rivals Manchester City in the Champions League with Sporting CP earlier this month.
