Borussia Dortmund consider permanent move for Marcus Rashford. Borussia Dortmund are reportedly still keen on signing Manchester United’s out-of-favor forward Marcus Rashford and are considering a permanent transfer, according to BILD.
The 27-year-old has been sidelined at United, with manager Ruben Amorim seemingly losing faith in him. Rashford hasn’t played since a Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen on December 12, leaving his future at the club in serious doubt.
During his time on the sidelines, Rashford has attracted widespread interest. While he has rejected offers from Saudi Arabia, Spain — particularly Barcelona — remains his preferred destination. However, Dortmund could provide the England international with an opportunity to rediscover his best form and make a fresh start in Germany.
Despite competition from AC Milan and Barcelona, Dortmund have been monitoring Rashford since January. Though the forward’s high wages pose a challenge, according to BILD, the Bundesliga club is reportedly determined to explore a deal that could bring the experienced attacker to the Signal Iduna Park.
The German publication claims that talks between Dortmund and United have begun and the side sitting tenth in the Bundesliga table at the season’s halfway mark are even internally discussing a permanent deal as they seek to address what has been a disastrous campaign to date.
Rashford’s representatives are thought to also be pushing for a final sale, with a figure of around £40m suggested. While Milan and Barcelona have only been linked with six-month loan deals thus far, Dortmund could have the necessary funds to finance a full transfer after the departure of Donyell Malen.
The divisive Dutch forward was signed by Aston Villa on Tuesday for an initial fee of £19m, freeing up some cash and a spot in the frontline for Rashford, who has increasingly grown reluctant to venture anywhere other than his preferred left-wing role.
