“Best CB pairing in Europe” – Rio Ferdinand backs Arsenal’s defensive duo. Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Arsenal’s center-back pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, declaring them the “best pairing in Europe.”
Speaking on his Vibe with Five podcast, Ferdinand lauded the duo’s complementarity, highlighting their different styles and the seamless blend they create. “I think the Arsenal CB pairing of Saliba/Gabriel is the best pairing in Europe,” he said. “They complement each other, their styles are perfect for each other. A good mix and blend.”
Ferdinand also pointed to the duo’s impressive individual performances, referencing data to support his claim. “Saliba had a 97 percent completion rate of his passes,” Ferdinand noted. “And in all the other defensive stats, Gabriel was top. So that blend, you can see it there in the data.”
The former England international’s strong endorsement further emphasizes the growing reputation of Arsenal’s defensive core, which has played a key role in their impressive form this season.
